Q: What is the Choice Gas program? 
A: Choice Gas is a program in Nebraska that gives you the opportunity to choose a natural gas commodity supplier that best suits your situation. The Choice Gas program provides you with a greater number of options in terms of price, service and budgeting to help better manage risk and price volatility.
 

Q: When is the Choice Gas Selection Period? 
A: The 2026-2027 Choice Gas selection period in Nebraska has ended. If you have any questions, contact us at 877-274-5710.
 

Q: How do I select my natural gas commodity supplier? 
A: There are three ways to select Constellation as your natural gas commodity supplier during the Choice Gas Selection Period. For convenience, please have the Choice Gas ballot you received in the mail handy when you contact us.

    Our toll free number 877-274-5710 to talk with a friendly and knowledgeable representative. 
  3. Mail 
    Check the “Constellation” box on the selection form you received in the mail and choose the pricing option you want by writing the corresponding confirmation code next to that price option. To get the confirmation code, visit the Price Options page on this Web site or call our toll-free number 877-274-5710 to talk with a knowledgeable representative. Then return your ballot in the mail prior to the Selection Period deadline. Be sure to sign your ballot or it will not be valid!
     

Q: What are my pricing options? 
A: Constellation offers a variety of pricing options including:

  1. Fixed Rate per Therm 
    A 12-month fixed gas price per therm based on projected market prices. This rate is “locked in” and will not change during that particular Choice Gas Program year unless there is a change of law. Regardless of market fluctuations, your gas bill will vary only based on your actual gas usage.
  2. Market Index Rate 
    A month-to-month market gas price per therm that changes each month (up or down) as it tracks current Nebraska gas market price fluctuations. This price includes two components, both of which should be considered when comparing market index prices: 1) The Market Index value used; and 2) the Adder. The Index value of your price will follow the market up and down each month, while the Adder remains constant throughout the Choice Gas Program year unless there is a change of law.
  3. Residential Budget Assist
    Budget Assist gives you a total fixed monthly bill each month, rolling the commodity price and utility costs into one price, regardless of weather or commodity price. Bill prices are based on historical use, weather patterns and current natural gas prices. See terms and conditions for any additional questions.

Q: How and when will customers receive gift card/bill credit?
A:
A valid customer email must be provided. Gift card will arrive in email once selection has been validated by Black Hills Utility, in 1-2 billing cycles.

The email will come from rewards@constellation.com. The reward link will expire 90 days after being sent.

Commercial customers will see their bill credits applied within 2 billing cycles.

Q: I signed up with Constellation – how will I receive my gift card or bill credit?
A:
Gift card will arrive via email once your selection has been validated by Black Hills Utility, in 1-2 billing cycles†. The email will come from rewards@constellation.com.

Residential customers who enroll successfully will receive a one-time Virtual Gift Card of $25 for 1-year term or $75 for 2-year term. One gift card per premise or meter.

Commercial customers will receive a one-time $25 bill credit for 1-year term or a one-time $75 bill credit for 2- and 3-year terms. Only commercial customers are eligible for bill credits. Commercial customers will see their bill credits applied within 2 billing cycles.
